Next Gen A/V & Designs is an immersive entertainment technology design and engineering firm that helps venues, casinos, studios and developers create high-performance audio, video and spatial experiences that improve audience engagement, operational flexibility and revenue potential.

BIO

Eric “Rick” Camp

Audio Engineer | Systems Designer | Production Manager | Immersive Audio Specialist | Educator

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1961, Rick Camp began his professional journey as a musician, attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music in 1979–1980 as a trumpet and performance major.

As the music industry evolved and the horn-driven bands that had originally inspired him began to disappear from the musical landscape, Rick redirected his passion for music toward the technical side of the industry. That decision launched a career in professional audio spanning more than four decades.

Throughout his career, Rick has worked as a Front-of-House engineer, recording and mixing engineer, production manager, tour manager, audio systems designer, consultant, and educator. His experience encompasses major concert tours, television productions, recording studios, houses of worship, stadiums, and large-scale entertainment venues.

Rick's live-production career has given him the opportunity to work with some of the world's most recognized artists and productions. His credits include Earth, Wind & Fire, Beyoncé and Destiny's Child, Jennifer Lopez, Babyface, Burt Bacharach, The Temptations, Natalie Cole, Anita Baker, The Whispers, Kelly Clarkson, and many others. His television experience includes work on American Idol.

His expertise extends well beyond live concert production. Rick has extensive experience in studio recording and mixing, having worked in renowned Los Angeles recording facilities including Capitol Records and Cherokee Recording Studios. He also owned and operated his own multitrack recording studio in Canoga Park, California, where he collaborated with numerous artists, musicians, producers, and engineers.

His work and career have been recognized by leading professional-audio publications, with multiple features and articles appearing in Mix Magazine, Front of House Magazine, and Pro Sound Magazine.

Over the years, Rick's expertise expanded from mixing individual performances to designing and optimizing complete audio environments. He has been involved in the design, installation, commissioning, and tuning of multimillion-dollar recording studios, houses of worship, stadiums, and entertainment venues. His project experience includes the Southern University recording studio and audio-system work associated with Yankee Stadium in New York.

Today, Rick combines his decades of real-world production experience with modern audio, video, acoustical, networking, and immersive-media technologies. His work focuses on designing sophisticated entertainment environments that integrate high-performance sound reinforcement, Dolby Atmos and spatial audio, advanced digital signal processing, networked audio, large-format video and LED systems, and immersive entertainment technologies.

Through Next Gen A/V Designs, Rick brings together the disciplines of system design, acoustics, audio engineering, system optimization, commissioning, and immersive entertainment design to create customized solutions for recording studios, entertainment venues, houses of worship, stadiums, and other complex audiovisual environments.

Education and mentorship have also become an important part of Rick's career. Through Master Mix Live!, he shares more than 40 years of practical experience with the next generation of audio professionals. His approach emphasizes not only the technology behind professional audio, but the listening skills, problem-solving abilities, and real-world judgment required to become a successful engineer.

Rick continues to pursue the same objective that has guided his career from the beginning: to combine music, technology, experience, and innovation to create exceptional audio experiences.

Whether mixing a live performance, designing a recording environment, optimizing hundreds of loudspeakers in a stadium, or developing the next generation of immersive entertainment venues, Rick remains committed to one fundamental principle:
